DESCRIPTION:Gender equality and the recognition of women's contribution to 
 the arts are more urgent today than ever. The recital creates space to dis
 cuss issues\, honor the legacy of remarkable female composers and reflect 
 on the influence of their music on today's world.\n\nFranziska Hiller (sop
 rano and moderator) and Ilan Bendahan Bitten (piano) will perform works by
  Clara Schumann\, Ethel Smyth and Alma Mahler\, among others.\n\nFree admi

 ce at least 15 minutes before the performance begins.\n\n“Female worlds
 ” is the thematic focus of the Leipzig Music Museums this year. In exhib
 itions\, guided tours\, concerts\, talks and workshops\, various facets of
  women's lives will be examined and the decisive role of women in the hist
 ory of music will be made visible and audible.\nA cooperation with the com
 posers' houses Bach Museum\, Mendelssohn-Haus\, Schumann-Haus\, Grieg Bege
 gnungsstätte\, Museum of City History Leipzig\, Museum of Musical Instrum
 ents\, with the kind support of the Ostdeutsche Sparkassen-Stiftung togeth
 er with Sparkasse Leipzig.
