His repertoire ranges from early Baroque music to Johann Sebastian Bac h\, from classical and romantic violin concertos to the world premieres of contemporary music. For his interpretations he deals intensively with que stions of style and playing techniques of the respective epoch.\n\n\nOn th e violin Sergey Malov won prizes at the Paganini Competition in Genoa\, th e Mozart Competition in Salzburg\, the Heifetz Competition in Vilnius and the Michael Hill Competition in Auckland. With the viola he won prizes at the ARD Competition in Munich and at the Tokyo Viola Competition.\n\nAs a violin and viola soloist he has performed with orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra\, the London Philharmonic Orchestra\, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra\, the Enesco Philharmonic Orchestra\, Deutsches S ymphonie-Orchester Berlin\, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra\, the Auckl and Philharmonia and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Invitations in past seasons have also taken him to the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra\, with whom he interpreted Sibelius's Violin Concerto on Sibelius's birthday und er Klaus Mäkelä\, to the Innsbruck Early Music Festival and on a Japan r ecital.\n\nThe past season of 2023/24 saw Sergey Malov traveling the globe as both conductor and soloist\, including a debut performance with the Bu dapest Festival Orchestra in Hungary. This led to an immediate reinvitatio n and subsequent concerts in Bruges\, Budapest\, and Spoleto. Additionally \, he performed both as a conductor and soloist with the La Cetra Barockor chester Basel\, which culminated in a successful concert in Istanbul\, Tur key.\n\nInternational festivals such as the Nelson Music Festival in New Z ealand and the Kuhmo Festival in Finland counted among his hosts. Further invitations took him to orchestras such as the Gävle Symphony Orchestra a nd the Tivoli Orchestra Copenhagen\, as well as to the Alte Oper Frankfurt \, where he was a celebrated guest alongside Jean-Guihen Queyras.\n\nThe 2 024/25 season holds invitations from the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra\, th e Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra\, and the Macedonian Philharmonic Orches tra. Additional invitations have come from venues such as the Dortmund Con cert Hall\, the L'Aquila Festival\, the Festival de Música Antigua de Sev illa\, and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf\, where Sergey will participate in the show by Igudesmann &\; Joo.\n\nSergey Malov's recordings of works by J .S. Bach\, Paganini and Ysayes\, among others\, have been released by DECC A\, EASonus\, Hänssler Profil\, Alba and Pan Classics as well as Solo Mus ica. In autumn\, his recording of J.S. Bach's 6 Cello Suites was awarded a n OPUS Klassik 2021. Having been recorded on his Violoncello da spalla it received outstanding critics (“…a CD which is thoroughly terrific.“ Süddeutsche Zeitung\, Reinhard J. Brembeck\, 27.4.2020). His most recent release (Solo Musica\, 2021) is the 24 Caprices by Niccolo Paganini. The videos with his Violoncello da Spalla have been viewed over one million ti mes on the internet.
