DESCRIPTION:What is Jewish music?\nThe internationally renowned guitarist L
 ucian Plessner explores this question in an introductory lecture and then 
 performs a concert featuring Jewish composers from the past 1000 years\, o
 f Sephardic and Ashkenazi origin\, outlining their contribution to the hig
 h culture of our world through words and music.\n\nAfter completing his st
 udies\, Lucian Plessner lived in Spain for five years\, where he was invit
 ed by a concert agency to tour as the first foreign concert guitarist. Leo
 nard Bernstein became aware of him and encouraged him to arrange his music
  for the guitar. With this programme\, Lucian Plessner performed worldwide
 \, from Hong Kong to San Francisco. He developed his Spanish concert reper
 toire with pianist Alicia de Larrocha\, gave a concert for Yehudi Menuhin 
 and made several guest appearances with Klaus Maria Brandauer. With the In
 dianapolis Chamber Orchestra\, he performed his arrangement of Suite from 
 West Side Story\, which was created at the suggestion of the Leonard Berns
 tein Office NYC\, during the Leonard Bernstein anniversary year 2018/19.\n
 \nOver the past two years\, Lucian Plessner has made repeated guest appear
 ances in Istanbul\, Mexico City\, at the Instituto Monte Sinai\, the Museo
  Memoria y Tolerancia and the Conservatorio Nacional de Mexico\, as well a
 s again in the USA in San Francisco and Los Angeles.\n\nPROGRAMME:\nSalomo
