Schumann Festival Week 12 - 20 September 2020

After the eventful celebration year CLARA19, this year Clara Schumann is joined by a jubilarian: Ludwig van Beethoven. The programme of the Schumann Festival Week 2020 from 12 to 20 September combines works by Clara and Robert with those of the master of Viennese Classicism. Under the motto "Nimm sie hin denn, diese Lieder", Beethoven's song cycle "An die ferne Geliebte" will of course be heard, as well as chamber music and piano works.

Imagine Clara Schumann making music together with Joseph Joachim when Antje Weithaas and Thomas Hoppe recreate an original concert by the two. The UWAGA Quartett provides infectious joy in playing. With respectful bowing to the genius of Beethoven, the musicians transfer his works, spiced with swing, rock and sounds from the Orient, into new musical worlds. With sound objects by Erwin Stache, the Ensemble Atonor approaches the composer greats Beethoven and Schumann. And in the Gedankensalon, chansonnier Sebastian Krämer and philosopher Felix Krämer invite you to a musical and eloquent Beethoven debate. You can also look forward to evenings with Ragna Schirmer, the Marmen Quartet (winners of the Banff International String Quartet Competition 2019), Sebastian Breuninger, Christian Giger and Yuka Kobayashi as well as Daniel Ochoa and Edith Tagle.

Before and after the concerts, you are cordially invited to get to the bottom of the "artist marriage" experiment in the first museum for a pair of musicians.
