"Between the Lines" – The new concert series at the Schumann House
Sometimes music moves us without our being able to say exactly why. There is more between the notes than we can hear; more between the words than is actually spoken. "Between the Lines" invites you to explore these hidden moments. In these moderated concerts, we take you behind the music: we share stories, offer explanations, ask questions, and make discoveries together. The result is a concert experience that feels personal-intimate, lively, and deeply moving.
Reveries
In the Schumann household, music was both a way of life and an everyday occurrence. Robert Schumann drew inspiration from the lively family atmosphere to create works such as "Kinderszenen" (Scenes from Childhood) and "Album für die Jugend" (Album for the Young) - miniature musical adventures brimming with imagination and vitality. The children grew up surrounded by this music; they marveled, listened, and became creative themselves. Daughter Marie and father Robert presented Clara with a musical setting of a poem, while the youngest son, Felix, inspired Johannes Brahms with his own poetic verses. In this concert, music explorers of all ages can experience the Schumann family’s musical world and immerse themselves in 19th-century family life.
